We are thrilled to report that Acoustic Waves was recently commissioned by Porsche Center Sofia to analyse the acoustics of their new underground level car showroom and offer a plan to treat the venue. The major complaints of the owners were of an exaggerated reverberation time and distinct echo effects that created an unpleasant environment, even for daily usage. Our acoustic analysis confirmed these problems and measured excessive reverberation time of over 6.5 seconds, which is six times over the professional standard for a venue with a volume of 3300 m3. To balance the acoustic conditions, we engineered a solution to treat over 600m2 surface area with specially designed perforated, membrane, and broadband absorbers. And in order to convince our clients and justify the project objectives, we created a special audio-virtual representation with a comparison between the current acoustic condition and the proposed one, which turned out to be very successful and accomplished immediate and impressive reactions!

We recently had the opportunity to work with the metal band Savage Ravage and especially with their bass player Mr. Alexander Benev on the creation of their new rehearsal studio, located in a residential house with a sensitive neighbors on the second floor and near the site. The primary design goal was to provide both a very high amount of sound proofing towards the neighbors, and decent acoustics in the studio for a limited budget. We are happy to report that despite the small floor area of 30 sq. meters, the highly restricted 2.1 meters ceiling height of the semi-basement room and the budget constrains, we acoustically designed a space which ensures that the band could rehearse without disturbing the neighbors while maintaining a good quality of sound and acoustics in the studio.

We are thrilled to report Acoustic Waves was recently commissioned by Mr. T. Totev to design from the ground up the acoustics and sound isolation properties of the Bulgarian first eco sustainable recording studio made of insulating straw bales. The studio will be situated on 77 square meters floor area, in a remote place and will feature not only a top sound and acoustics, but also and a beautiful landscape view and natural light. After months of inspiring and challenging work, we completed the engineering and design part and now we are showing you several architectural views from the recording room and control room, exclusively before the build start this spring!

The Sofia based TABA Record Store recently commissioned Acoustic Waves to design and renovate the acoustics and sound isolation properties of their small but very intimate venue situated in a lively residential area. The venue had an extended reverberation decay in the lowest octaves and was subjectively perceived as boomy by the store listeners, and very annoying by the neighbors. Acoustic Waves were addressed to solve both the issues. This is what Vladimir Stamenov, co-founder of TABA, shared with us months after the completion of the project:

The client required nothing short by excellent sound quality, down to the lowest frequencies, proper ambient noise level, and stunning visual appearance. It thrills us to report that we accomplished the design and engineering and the construction of the studio is already near its full completion!

We are excited to share that Acoustic Waves was recently commissioned to design the acoustics of the new home studio of our long-time dear friend, founder of the famous The Gods Planet record label, and true master of hypnotic deep techno music - Andrea Deplano aka NESS.

We are thrilled to present you the recently completed personal and very unique home studio design that we made for our dear friend and true master of trance electronic music and modular synths - Kliment.  We put everything in the creation of this studio and despite all the acoustic and project challenges - one of which was to reduce the reverberation time nearly 15 times from 3.0 to 0.2 seconds, we accomplished all design objectives and even more.

We are super delighted to share that Acoustic Waves was recently commissioned to design the acoustics and sound isolation properties of the new home studio of our dear friend, co-founder of Artmospheric Festival and true master of trance electronic music and modular synths - Kliment.

About half a year ago the new studio of Sound Ninja Music Academy opened doors in Sofia. Since then we started to receive incredible feedback about the acoustics and the sound of the studio that made us incredibly happier and confident to continue and upgrade our work to the next level! We are thrilled to present to you our latest design and development of the studio! 

​

Recently we were commissioned by Mr Doncho Burgudjiev (know as DJ Doncho) to design the acoustics and sound isolation of his new personal studio.  One of the biggest challenges that faced the project was how to accomplish the requirements for adequate isolation, proper acoustics, and great sound and bass down to the lowest frequencies in a space with a floor area of only 7m2! We are more than happy to report that the design and engineering of the studio are now completed.

Earlier in the year, we were commissioned to design the acoustics and the sound insulation of the new studio facility of Sound Ninja Music Academy -  independent and highly respected school for music production, mixing and audio engineering in Sofia, Bulgaria. We are very excited to report that the construction was completed and the studio is ready to welcome its academy users and all new sound ninjas!

The acoustics renovation and sound reproduction optimizations of Sofia's Koncept Space​ are now completed. The design featured the installation of more than 230 sq. meters of custom-engineered acoustic treatment aimed for reduction of the venue's RT from 3.1 to 0.5 seconds. The results provided a perfect acoustic environment with spectrally balanced reverberation time and resonance-free low end, carefully tailored to support the installation of a highly appreciated Void Acoustics​ system.

Welcome, studio F - our new production, mixing and mastering facility designed for Mr G. Nikolov. The studio is the second build of our own PSE (Primal Studio Environment) concept and design philosophy, based on our most recent psycho-acoustic research and developments. The main objective of the design is to provide both a natural environment for the listener and a critically damped room for the loudspeakers.

A new place for contemporary electronic music open doors in Sofia - Koncept Space. We are happy to share that Acoustic Waves was invited to renovate and optimise the acoustics in the venue and to balance the sound reproduction inside it. The design needed the installation of more than 230 sq. meters of custom engineered acoustic treatment for the reduction of the venue's reverberation time nearly 6 times.

We are thrilled to present to you our latest studio design project and the first of this new kind- EXE Studio. It is the new production, mixing and mastering facility designed especially for Mr Pavel Petrov. The idea is Inspired by our latest psycho-acoustic research and most recent studio designs and influenced by the non-environment studio philosophy.

Last year we were invited to join a team of professionals and architects and design the acoustics of a newly proposed night club in Sofia - EXE. Now we are thrilled to share the results of this collaborative work and inform you that the project has been completed! We present you several exclusive shots from the venue. Expect a detailed case study of our work in the project in the coming weeks.

It's been a year since Sofia's beloved Studio EW had to close its doors, but today we are more than happy to announce its reopening at a new location. Acoustic Waves were yet again commissioned to design the acoustics of the venue and to optimise the sound system for the new environment. The project aimed for balanced acoustics and futuristic design, reflecting our design philosophy and the spirit of EW that influenced many through the years, even us.

We are delighted to share that Acoustic Waves Ltd. has been recently commissioned to design the acoustics of a new state of the art music venue in Sofia, Bulgaria, equipped with a custom sound system and professional recording studio. With an overall floor area of around 1000 sq. meters, Sofia's new night place promises to be one of the biggest clubs for contemporary electronic music around. The venue is scheduled to open doors later in the year.

We are excited to announce a part of a very interesting project we have been working on for the last couple of months. A new mixing and mastering studio for Mr Pavel Petrov. Inspired by our latest psychoacoustic research and most recent studio designs and influenced by the non-environment philosophy, the recording studio is going to be the first of this new line in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The new recording spaces and control rooms of Graffiti Studio and their technical design are inspired by the idea of having a neutral acoustics condition indoor, like in an outdoor space, but with the benefits of not having disturbing noise from the outside. This was achieved by isolation technique known as "room inside a room" and with a separate floating floor for every studio. 

​

The acoustics engineering for the forthcoming renovation of Istanbul's club MU is now completed. The design features the installation of more than 150 sq. meters of custom acoustic treatment for balancing the reverberation time and resonance-free low end, in requirement with the needs of the contemporary electronic music as well as for a venue this size. As to the sound system design and optimization, our partners from 303.bg will be handling the installing of Funktion-One.

We are excited to announce that Acoustic Waves Ltd. has been commissioned recently for the acoustics renovation of a new club venue in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the project is to provide a balanced reverberation time through the audio spectrum and a resonance-free environment for unrestricted bass response down to the lowest octaves. The venue is equipped with Funktion-One sound system composed of four  Resolution 2 speakers and two F218 MK2 bass enclosures.

After months of work full of inspiring engineering and acoustic challenges, we are thrilled to show our studio design project for Marcus Henriksson's (Minilogue / Son Kite) own studio COSMOS. Located deep in the Swedish woods and surrounded only by nature the studio is designed as an extension of this natural environment and as such, it explores the psycho-acoustic connections between human and nature.

We are honoured to share that Acoustic Waves Ltd. has been recently commissioned by a true legend in the electronic music world Marcus Henriksson (Minilogue / Son Kite) for the creation of his new studio facility deep in the Swedish woods.This sublime moment marks and the 11th Anniversary of our creation!

Acoustic Waves Ltd. has been recently commissioned by SOHO for the creation of three sound isolated voice booths. SOHO is creative and artsy coworking space in Sofia, Bulgaria providing access to fully equipped workplaces for freelancers, entrepreneurs and professionals. With their significantly reduced ambient and acoustic noise, the booths are designed to meet and the most demanding needs for privacy of their clients.

We are happy to share that Acoustic Waves Ltd. has been recently chosen among other competitors to design the new recording and post production facilities for Graffitti Studio. Founded in 1994, Graffitti Studio is probably the oldest recording studio in Bulgaria specialised in providing professional voice over, music recording, mixing and mastering services. The new studios are in an advanced stage of design and construction development and are progressing as scheduled.

The new production studio facility for Mr Manuel De La Mare has been recently finished. This is what he shared with us after the completion of the project:

"... probably the best studio sound I've ever heard... the volume the depth the stereo is all perfect and sounds supernatural...I can't believe I finally can listen to music properly ..."

The acoustics in Studio EW was recently renovated. This is what Mr M. Dimchev (Co-Owner of Studio EW, Audio Technician at SEG) shared with us after the completion of the project:

"It was simply stunning how much more sound we got for the small investment we could afford. Now there is not a single spot at the club that cannot experience proper bass response - we don't even need to worry about excessive bass levels at the DJ booth. And probably best of all - we have observed it has become a frequent topic of conversation among the people visiting our venue. Mission completed!"

We were recently hired to design a new audiophile room for Mr Alexander Tashov. The acoustic design has been finished, and the construction started. The design features custom made mid frequency range QRD 2D diffusers on the ceiling and high-frequency range MLS diffsorbers on the side walls. The modal region is managed by selectively tuned perforated and diaphragmatic absorbers ensuring a low level of resonance activity and unrestricted bass down to the lowest octave. As to the speakers, they are custom made 8.8 meters back-loaded horns with full range drivers from Etheraudio.

A year after the successful acoustic renovation of club Mixtape 5 A-Side we were commissioned to work closely with Another Studio on a proposed interior upgrade. The main objective of our work was to examine the impact of the proposed wall pattern on the venue's sound and to ensure that it fits its acoustics concept. 

​

Acoustic Waves was recently commissioned by Elegantly Wasted for the acoustic renovation of their own  Studio EW. Ever since its creation, the Sofia's iconic venue has been an international place for contemporary electronic music acts, hosting artists such as Alan Backdrop, Claudio PRC, Ness, Refracted, Jane Fitz, Barac and many more. For the forthcoming new season, the venue will provide a new level of sound sensation and acoustics for its visitors and guests.

Today Acoustic Waves Ltd. celebrates ten years since its foundation - A decade in the business of providing architectural designs for critical listening spaces and concert venues. We are thrilled to launch our new website beta and hope it serves of benefit to our present and future clients.

The design of the new control room for Heritage Studio has been completed. The studio features a pair of high-quality Wilson Audio Sophia series floor-standing loudspeakers.

We are very pleased to report the construction has now finished on Urban House Studios, metal band Odd Crew's new recording studio.

​

Artmospheric Festival, the mountain gathering for deep tripping music and alternative culture, will take place in July, a decade after the idea was born, high up in the Bulgarian western Balkan mountains.  For a third year, Acoustic Waves Workshop will be a part of the festival program. We will hold an open dialogue session on topics related to room acoustics and the perception of sound in different acoustic environments.

Acoustic Waves has been commissioned recently to design a private recording studio - control room and live room, in London, UK. We went there to perform an initial acoustic measurement session and have started the project.

​

The French sound architect David Letellier aka Kangding Ray is playing live at the next Contemporary Techno Structures. Besides with his music (released for respected labels such as raster-noton and Stroboscopic Artefacts), David is known and for his kinetic sound installations - TESSEL and VERSUS (to name a few), which explore the perception of sound and space and his work for the famous architect Jean Nouvel on the new Paris Philharmonic Hall. Make sure not to miss him.

The concert of Ozric Tentacles at club *Mixtape 5* was one of those very special moments which will resonate for a long time in our minds... Ozric were amazed by the acoustic environment of the venue: 

"Mixtape was as good as I've ever heard any venue sound. It was truly perfect; I couldn't have asked for anything better, far beyond my expectations of the club. I've seen a hell of a lot of clubs in my life and I can't help but notice and appreciate real quality when I see it, or hear it."

Acoustic Waves has been commissioned recently to design a new mastering studio for OMP Mastering. The project has already started and thanks to a great job of the contractor it is almost completed. We performed several acoustic measurements after the completion of the main building phases to ensure everything is under control and have found a high agreement between the project targets and the results.

The acoustics renovation in A-Side of club "Mixtape 5" has been completed, and we are happy to report that the results from the measurements have matched the pre-designed acoustic parameters with high precision. Now the venue has a very well controlled acoustic environment down to the lowest octaves. Have a look at the case study of the project.

It has been three years since we designed the acoustics of club "Mixtape 5" / B-Side. We are pleased to announce that the time has come for A-Side. In about a month the venue will have a properly balanced acoustic environment that will bring new waves of sound sensation. To celebrate this, we have prepared a very special event for the 20th of November together with our friends of Artmospheric Festival.

Acoustic Waves were commissioned recently to design the new personal mixing and mastering facility of Mr Manuel De La Mare. The studio is in an advanced stage of construction development, and it is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The Auroral studio was recently updated with transparent mAicro-perforated low-frequency absorbers to deal with back-wave interference.

​

Hybrid low-frequency absorber / mid and high-frequency diffuser, based on a pseudo-random binary sequence.

​

It has been a while since Sofia National Opera and Ballet hired us for that project - noise insulation of hydraulic stage platforms and multimedia room for their spectacular opera - The Ring of the Nibelung (a cycle of four epic operas by the German composer Richard Wagner.), but since then, the Bulgarian interpretation of Wagner's masterpiece has gained a huge success and positive feedback from around the world, and we have decided to share this success. We are more than happy that Acoustic Waves has been involved in the creation of that unique piece of art by ensuring an acoustic comfort for it.

We are excited to announce our next club acoustics project. It is for Studio X, a new place in Sofia, Bulgaria with a uncompromised Funktion-One sound system. The construction of the venue has already started and is progressing as scheduled.

Alexander Tashov: "If you want to make a high-resolution hi-end system without acoustic treatment it'll be totally impossible. Thanks to Acoustic Waves I was able to take the way to the acoustic treatment from 0. Each time I put any acoustic elements in the room I had to listen to my favorite songs again. Each item causes the room to "looks" bigger for the speakers and to be more silent for the listener. The combination of absorbers and diffusers make possible to hear details and sounds that nobody can hear on systems for 500K $ if there is no treatment."
